Artist Statement
Art has always been a constant in my life. My work doesn’t stem from a single concept or innate talent but emerges from an instinctive need to create. In every piece, my creative drive is reflected through my desire to highlight detail. I aim to create a feeling of discomfort in my work. I want to evoke a sense of shock in the viewer, whether that comes from the subject matter, my use of physical materials, or showcasing my technical skills — like blending, controlling brush strokes, and creating 3D imagery. When working in three dimensions, I follow a more conceptual process: an idea takes shape in my mind, and I translate it into physical form using materials that carry meaning within the concept. I often work with textiles and drapery like yarn, fabric, and cardboard, valuing their flexibility and the way they invite movement. I enjoy creating sculptures that respond to touch or motion, allowing the materials to react and engage with their surroundings physically. In my paintings and drawings, I draw inspiration from art history, studying the techniques of the old masters to deepen my understanding of realism and technical craftsmanship. Through this exploration, I aim to bridge historical influences with my personal voice as an artist. The act of creating provides a sense of fulfillment for me; I am able to feel totally centered when I am painting or sculpting.
